Anyone rattling in Wisconsin yet?

The rut is picking up, lots scrape activity lately, and some chasing  going on ...  Anyone rattling with success yet in Wisconsin?

I have not started rattling yet, but one of my food plot cameras show sparing of a few different bucks over the last ten days.

I have tried rattling in the big woods of northern Wisconsin with no success. Perhaps it is due to the fact that my setups have mostly been in rather thick cover where I couldn't see much more than 30 yards in any direction. No bucks charged right in, so I ASSUME that none responded. Had success with rattling in Kansas, though.

I rattled yesterday.  I don't think any deer heard it because of the RAIN.  My ghillie suit is still dripping wet.  I hope it dries off by tomorrow or Sunday, whenever it stops raining.

BTW,  nothing came in, but that is not unusual for me.  I have not yet had great luck rattling.

Going to try it this afternoon and all weekend.
I have had luck with it in the past.  It it is hit and miss when it works,  but when it does they come running.  Same thing with grunting,  much of the time they ignore it and walk the other way, but every once in awhile they come in on a string. Can't say I've ever spooked one using it,  so I generally give it a try - but don't overdo it.

Central Wisconsin-  Watched a nice 8 shred a couple of trees yesterday around 2:30. Had a swirly wind so I did not rattle or grunt at him....80 yards was as close as he came. I have had success rattling in the past but I never do it if the wind is questionable.
No IS the time to be in a tree. Good Luck!!

A friend of mine said a local found two bucks locked together yesterday or the day before. They said that one was in the 180" class and other was 160" class......that is yet to be verified.

So it should be time to "Crash" those horns together!

In Mid Michigan but last Saturday evening a 13" 5pt. was bumping a doe and fawn around about 60yds out in hardwoods. I tried to grunt it in a few times with no results. I got a rattling bag out and just did like some light tickling type of sparring. Just did two short sequences. He came over on the second one. Just walked over and hung out right under my tree for a couple of minutes. Did a circle right around the tree like less than 5yds out.The he went back over toward the doe. Eventually all three came back by the tree then headed on their way. No bait they were just heading through the woods and heading toward fields about 1/4 mile away. Got in four practice draws on him.

I'm not in WI but I heard some fighting up the ridge from my set up last Saturday.

I tickled antlers tonight and did not get any real interest.  However, I did call in a nice buck last weekend ( no shot opportunity) with a doe bleat.  This late morning (11:30) I bleated in a 12 pointer to about 15 yards ... The wind swirled and he trotted off ... Damn!

Anyway, doe bleats are hot right now calling in bucks.  Good luck fellas.

Rattling here in Il really doesn't seem to work on larger bucks. Have had numerous young bucks respond though. Seems the more mature bucks just don't fall for it. The can doesn't seem to work either, used it to try and bring a nice mature buck across a pasture one morn. and he spooked and ran the other way.   :banghead:
