You are right, they will get broken from time to time. I have broken several that hit animals, but I'm okay with that.
When I say they are tough I base this on having shot them into trees, stumps, rocks, fences and once even flat steel. Of these arrows the number that broke is zero. Just today I hit a hard locust tree stump with one wearing a judo. The shaft bounced back about 15 feet. No damage, shot it at another target of opportunity. The inserts have popped out, points bent, glue separated, but they have never broken. I can't say that about any other shafts I have ever used.
But like I said before, they are expensive. YMMV.
