Well, very windy afternoon with a strong wind out of the south. This is a relatively new area to me, but the normal stand site is on the West end of the property, but it is more for a North wind... So, I went into the East end of the property, more for a scouting/hunting trip...
After still hunting most of the East end, I found a few interesting areas that I may have to put a stand in... A lot of deer tracks through out, and a lot of Oaks with a fair amount of acorns on the ground. No deer seen...
In my travels I did run into this guy...
Now, we do have some dangerous snakes, but this guy was not to be feared. Even though he wanted me to think so...
I did have an encounter with a Bobcat which was interesting. I actually saw him first, at about 80 yards or so... Made a few squeeks (which was tough to get loud enough for him to hear in the wind), but he only got to about 40 yards when he picked me out crouched next to a tree on the ridge above him. He just stopped coming my way, and slowly walked out of site. Nice encounter, and successful hunt even though I never shot my bow with any intent other then the few shots I took at leaves and stumps. And, learned a bit more about the property...
