Add your Christmas List
« on: November 14, 2013, 05:11:00 PM »
All,

I think I did one of these last year so why not do it again.  My wife is hitting me up for Christmas ideas so I thought I would get input from the gang on good stuff that any traditional bowyer cant live without.

More arrows or shafts if you fletch, etc yourself.  I think we all could agree on that one.

Great Ideas,

Guess I didnt mean for this to be just for me, but rather a list of stuff that guys might want to check out.  There is so much stuff out there and this is a great group of archers that know what works and what is junk

More time!  I've got enough crap for this lifetime, now I just need time to use it.

A KME knife sharpener.
A Kifaru tactical platform frame/suspension with tactical cargo panel and a variety of pockets. (us elk guys haul some serious stuff when something actually dies!)
An EFA with setback wing and capacity for 4 large broadheads, pretty versions optional.
A Christmas where most of the family, both immediate and extended, could be together.

I honestly can't think of many things I really need. It seems that Christmas is sometimes too much about stuff, and not enough about Christmas.

I'm reading "Hunting with the Bow and Arrow" by Mr. Saxton Pope right now.  It's free for kindle but I'm thinking a hard back copy would be a great gift for any trad hunter.  Anybody know if you can still find these in print?

Any tools or supplies for building arrows would always be useful.  And of course, you can never have too much clothing.

Notice I didn't put any tools or gadgets for the actual hunt on my list.  One of the main reasons I enjoy trad hunting is the simplicity.  After greatly simplifying my bow setup going from compound to recurve last year, I turned to my other gear this year and now have a significantly lighter hunting pack.  Makes Christmas shopping a little tougher on my wife though.
