Id probably mess my shorts if he walk by my stand. in my neck of the woods our average buck is so small we just rub tooth picks together to rattle them in.

Yes Keefer, this is him. The spot where he is hanging out is very tough to hunt. Its in a small bottom where three valleys intersect and the wind in there is very swirly. When the wind comes with or from the direction of one of the valleys I can hunt it. I have been down in there many times and sat for 20 minutes and had to leave.

Killing a deer like this with any weapon would be a tough ordeal and especially the way we choose to hunt. I haven't laid eyes on him. I really appreciate all the well wishes in letting the air out of him though. No gun hunters in here but you know as well as I do, any day he may take a notion to go wandering. There are a pile of does in there so hopefully he will stay around.

Going back in there in the morning and planning to sit all day (wind pending).

I'd wait too, TJ.  I don't have anything that big here, but I've passed on several smaller bucks, giving them a chance to grow, hoping a bruiser comes by.

I know this is a great deer but for me its the game that I enjoy anymore. I get my thrills on figuring out and taking a "Mature" animal. Rack size makes no difference to me. Not saying it doesn't make it more exciting though. Haha.

I also am after a huge old 6 pointer that I would be very happy with and if given the chance to shoot him I would do it in a heartbeat.

One of the mature does I killed this year had smelled me and blew on two different hunts. She was a wise old gal. I moved my stand to the spot where she would pace back and forth to wind check the field (and for me) before coming out of the thicket. That's the fun part!

Yep, I'd hold out for him too. That's a hoss right there. Be worth it even if you just get to see him and not get a shot just knowing he's there. Good luck buddy!

That is one impressive buck.  I really enjoy sits where I see a lot of deer despite if I harvest one or not.  Just makes hunting that much more interesting!
