Ever Make or Use Windproof Blanket Instead of Heater Body Suit?
« on: November 15, 2013, 09:27:00 AM »
I have been thinking about how to stay warn and had an idea to make a hooded type blanket with magnets along the front for quick closure and opening.

If it was made out of Primaloft or Windstopper then it would be good in all weather conditions.

Do you think this could be used effectively to get in and out of when the shot opportunity comes?

Would you have to have the legs completely enclosed like the Warmbag or Heater Body Suit?

Thoughts?

Cheers,
James

You could probably do it....though I am going to hunt out of a sleeping bag.

yep a sleeping bag is a great way to go. i use a semi rectangular bag not a full mummy bag as they are too tight in the feet for boots.
just throw the bag in a compression stuff sack and strap it to your pack. when you get on stand climbing it and hav the zipper to your front and put a string, bungie cord, or belt around the outside of the bag around your waist. this way when you push the bag off your shoulders to shoot it only falls toyour waist.

Ok, do you guys use a synthetic bag or anything special like down?

I assume you put your boots and all inside?

How do you get unzipped easily?

Does it go up over your shoulders only and not your head?

Is it hard to maneuver around and like you are in a potato sack race?

Just trying to figure out the best way to do this without reinventing the wheel! Or making costly mistakes!

i leave it unzipped from the waist up and bring it up over my shoulders and just hold it closed with my arms inside. then when i need to shoot i stand and slide it down to my waist and grab my bow.
yep my boots go inside.
the semi retangle or full rectangle bag is not to bad to manuver in. the mummy bags are almost dangerous on stand as you cant move your feet.
