What's in Billings,MT
« on: November 15, 2013, 03:12:00 PM »
SO I'll be moving to Billings next week and am wondering what is happening around that part of the state. Are there any traditional shops, shoots, leagues? What about indoor ranges? I love hunting bunnies as well. So tell me about Billings!

Billings is only an hour or so from the Beartooth mountains, my favorite range in Montana. There is flyfishing, duck hunting, upland game, good deer hunting, and elk are in all directions if you have the right tag. But everything is at least half an hour to an hour of driving. I like Bozeman more than Billings personally, but any place in Montana is great!

Spent a night there and remember they have legal gambling. I was on my way back to Ga. after elk hunting in your neck of the woods.

Went into the Bitterroots out of Darby with a guy that guided for Iron Horse Outfitters.

Pretty sure that is where Joe St. Charles lives...in case you do not know his father was Glenn, the man who started the Pope and Young club...there are some of the best bowyers anywhere in Montana...just do a search on Montana bowyers...if you have a passport come up to Calgary and shoot with us...we shoot longbows indoors on Friday nights in the winter

I went hunting with a buddy at work in the Beartooth range back in 1995. Loved it, some beautiful country. Saw a lot of elk, had some close encounters but did not score. Went to Red Lodge and went from there. He had a cousin lived in Red Lodge , he steered us to a good place to hunt. We saw some bear and a lot of lion sign.

I visited Billings a few years ago with my friend Keith Beam, co-founder of Double Bull ground blinds.
He was signing autographs and representing Primos Hunting Calls at the new Cabela's Grand Opening.

I helped man the booth a little, and met some of Keith's local friends. One fellow I met, Dave Deming, is the owner of Ground Swat Camo, and he rescued me from the boredom of the big box store.

Dave picked me up from the hotel on Sunday morning and we were joined by Dave's friend. the three of us shot a 3D course which was positively beautiful, and right there in Bozeman.

Look up Dave. Great guy. And next Spring...go shoot that course.

There's probably an indoor there too.

Have fun!
