quiet strings
« on: November 26, 2013, 06:04:00 PM »
I need a new string for my recurve. That bow has never been that noisy, but I want to see if a new string will take it to the next level. I want to use a sponsors product. Any suggestions ? Also the only string silencer Ive used is catwhiskers. Is there any opinion on which is better beaver or otter or possibly wool

Give SBD strings a try, they are a sponsor here. Great strings and great people.

Try a SBD string, and you'll love it!
Take it from another lineman! Lol
Good luck!

I really like Bikini strings by Allen Schafer and Navajo silencers from Centaur archery.

I use mink and beaver 'beaver balls' on all my bows. Very quiet, looks good.

X2 for the Bikini strings by Allen Schafer at Lefties-R-Us.  I, too, use Beaver Balls for silencers.

SBD

They make the quietest strings that I've found yet.  An added bonus is they make your arrows marginally quicker too.

I like Chad at Champion Custom Bowstrings, a sponsor, always been happy with his products and has the new 8190, bcy-x, he is working with.

Hush puppies from the trad gang store are very effective silencers, also the bow hush works well for recurves.

The last string I brought was an SBD 6 strand with acrylic silencers and wraps, best string I ever brought. My recurve now is really quiet, the sound before always bothered me.
