Kodiak Hunter in ZEBRA Finish....COST??
« on: December 01, 2013, 10:15:00 PM »
Hey all,

I just saw some pics of a beautiful Kodiak Hunter in ZEBRA.  WOW!  I don't think I have ever seen one as pretty.

Couple questions.

Can you all tell me what years they were made?

What would I expect to pay for one in good shape, no limb twists or defects in 45 pound?

Thanks

If anyone has pics of one, please post as I'd like to see if others look that good.

1967 for certain, maybe +/- one year.  There weren't many I don't believe.  Cost?    :dunno:

Lookers for sure!  This was owned by Al Reader.

I believe there are also some Grizzlies out there with zebrawood risers...I have a 1961 Kodiak Special with some great grain zebrawood in the riser...the bow has some serious finish issues but is a great shooter...I paid 66 dollars for it

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

Those KH's in zebra are rare I think since I've only seen a couple from '67.  The more common zebra is the '64 and '65 Grizzly which shoot great and look superb.

As noted already zebra was standard 64-65 Grizzly wood.  You'll find it in other models / years but not consistently.  I saw a stunning zebra  Tigercat once

Typically a excellent condition 1964-65 Grizzly in 45# will sell for between $200-$300.

Can anyone post pics of the 64-65 Grizzly Zebras?  I'd like to see one and see how they are different from the KH.

Thanks

this thread has many years of Grizzlys but quite a few from 1964 - 1965.  Zebrawood can have quite a bit of variation.  1962 Grizzly site windows were also zebrawood.

1964-1965 are 58" AMO bows.  They are very pleasant to shoot and great lookers.

1962 are 62" bows and one of the best shooting Bears ever made (my opinion).  The cream colored glass makes them tough to hunt without limb covers or some other type of camo though.

The Zebra wood Grizzly is a great Bow. I have never seen a KH in zebra wood, only ictures. I have seen 5 Grizzlies though.

here is mine. Second from Bottom, Zebra wood Tigercat on top.

a few more of the griz.

Ben Pearson sold some sweet zebra wood bows in the 1960's as well. I have seen some real lookers and Pearsons typically shoot great too.
