I was doing some still hunting near the end of my hunt and as i entered this thicket, I saw a flash of movement to the left. So i knelt down and I saw that it was a coyote. All I had was my grunt tube so i did a fawn bleat distress and to my right i hear some crashing so I turned quick and there stands a doe not 3 yards from me. She has her nose down peaking through the brush head on. I could have reached out and touched her. She spooked and i let out another call. She turned around and came back in, VERY cautiously this time, to 5 yards broadside. It was again about 3.5 paces and she stood staring at me through the brush.
I let an arrow fly but she ducked my arrow. Goes to show you can't out beat their reflexes! It was BY FAR, the most exciting hunt EVER. It would have been really cool to get her, but I have learned now to practice all distances. Its easy to miss that close! I Also did not know how effective that call can be!
Thought y'all would enjoy that! Getting close to the game is why I hunt Traditional!
