late day hunt
« on: December 09, 2013, 01:07:00 AM »
Went to a 3 D shoot today did ok. After the shoot Had maybe 2hrs of daylight left. Went to a spot that I knew that they was using the area. Did some rabbit distress stuff.  Seen one sneaking in gets to fifty yards and hangs up. All I can see is half of its head looking at me behind a almond tree. Do some lip squeaks and he just sits there. We look at each other for at least ten minutes . I'm pretty sure he does not see me but knows some things up. Five more minutes go by and he lays down still facing me. I still can only see just half of its face.  Thinking this is not going to happen and I'm getting cramped holding my bow up. Here some thing to my left and one walks past me and stops to sniff the decoy. The arrow hits home and he goes about 50-60 yards and piles up.  The other one is still out there laying down. He then crawls out of there keeping the trees between him and me. Gets to a hundred yards and puts the after burners on. This guy is going to be real tuff ( impossible) to get even with a rifle.

The one I did get

Flipped him over and found the arrow.

You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

Thanks guys. Yes Larrydawg its going to be a quiver. This year the coyotes have great hair on them. Almost too pretty to shoot.
