Snow Day
« on: December 10, 2013, 07:42:00 PM »
Remember when you were a kid and got the news from the radio that school was cancelled due to snow? What a great feeling! Having the day to enjoy the white stuff. Well this morning I got the same feeling after we decided to cancel work for the day.
So what does a hunter do on a snow day, got that right, grabbed my longbow and went for a walk.

Followed this trail for a bit...

Saw this rub along the way. Promising sign for my area at least...

Came upon this doe working her way toward me..

She headed into an old pasture with lots of small saplings. I stalked her for a while but the closest I got was 40yrds...

I also had a beautiful red fox come less than 10 yrds in front of me but he busted me while trying to get a pic. Another doe also worked her way by me through some thick brush and disappeared. I had an idea where I wanted to be for my final stand until dark. On my way sneaking to it I crossed a fresh emergency exit of one I must have spooked out. Another, less pretty but large fox wandered to within 12ft of me and I was able to get several pictures.

I wasn't able to get a shot on anything other than with my phone, but it was still a much better day than swinging a hammer    :archer:

And you did not even have a bad day hunting!

Looks real cold up there in PA!

What a great day off! I agree with my grand dad, who often said, "Any man who says he likes having to work for a living is either a fool or a liar." Therefore, whenever I got a chance to skip out, I TOOK IT! I have never hunted in snow, so those pictures look especially inviting.

Nothing like being in the woods after a good snowstorm covers your hunting area, there is always increased activity.  Throw on the snow camo and hit the woods       Cool pix, Thanks for sharin.
