Canadian Source Osage for Staves/Billets?
« on: September 12, 2007, 11:39:00 AM »
I’m trying to find a nice Osage stave or set of billets to give to my father for Christmas. Does anyone know of a good source for either staves or billets in Canada? I would order from the US but I don’t think staves can be shipped to Canada, plus I'm pretty sure the customs cost on a stave would be expensive. If anyone knows of a good source or has any information on having staves or billets shipped to Canada let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Chris check out A&M Wood in Cambridge. I don't know if they have split staves or billets, but the have pallets of osage boards that could be used for BBO's, or they might have a couple logs left. I haven't been there in a while though, so I'm not sure on what they have right now. You might want to email them and ask what they have.

Chris , Most sponsers here would love to send you good billets and staves to Canada . We ship wood to Canada all the time.
Remember to ask the shipper to send via postal service to avoid the brokerage fee involved using UPS.
Billets are your best bet due to length shipping charges of the staves

Thanks Luke, I’ll check with A&M. I knew they carried Elm and Hickory staves but wasn’t aware they have Osage from time to time.

Ted, thanks for the info. I thought there are restrictions on shipping raw wood products from the US to Canada. One of the  guys at our archery club had a little bit of trouble bringing some Osage across the border coming back from Denton hill so I just assumed the same restrictions applied for vendors shipping to Canada. I’ll give you a call if I end up ordering from the US, I’ve been waiting to order some Arrow Dynamics shafts from you anyway so maybe I can kill two birds with one stone.
