These bows are as smooth as any that I've tried and smoother than some costing twice as much. Even when overdrawing and anchoring much further back to around 29", I don't know how you could get much smoother in a 58" longbow. My Kanati was my first bow and it really is hard to find any negatives with this bow.
Having said that, since acquiring and/or shooting several other bows, I don't shoot mine as well as I do some of my others. I'm not knocking the bow at all, I just have others with grips that are a better fit for me.
Now, in terms of "bang for your buck"....there isn't a bow out there that I've found, that surpasses the Kanati in my opinion.
