In the process of getting hired in Meeker, anyone up that way? I'm mostly moving for the cost of living and get to an area with more lions (the dogs seem to be taking over my life lol) Anyway hope there are some others around and hoping I'm not giving up to much deer and elk down here.

Taught 8 years there.('88 thru '96)....Loved it and plenty of good people there.
Haven't seen many on either trad site though.
Meeker High or Middle School?
Just join gun club or hang out at Bowstring place and you'll find plenty of help.
Not sure of game population ..it's been too long but bad winter hurt the mulies several years ago.
Email if you need more info.

There's tons of elk out that way. I know of a guy who will let you trespass for a fee during archery. But it won't be cheap and the terrain is brush oak and sage. No forest land. So not great for bow. Either way. They will be close by. Not so sure about the deer population though.

I used to live in Craig many, many years ago. From the Meeker perspective, let me see if I remember this right. Speed Goats are found to the north, mule deer are west in the canyons, elk are east in the mountains, and fruit is found to the south(Aspen & Grand Junction)!
Meeker is a good place to base a hunter. Good luck.

The highway from Craig down to Rifle is usually littered with elk and deer carcasses in the winter. Don't know about access, but there seem to be lots of animals. I have seen elk in the city limits of Craig.
I have always thought that Meeker looked like a great place to live. I bet you will like it.

You will be right in the thick of it. Great elk, deer and turkey hunting, lots of National Forest. Very good fishing for trout in the White River, good perch and walleye fishing in Rifle Gap Res. There is a local Division of Wildlife office in Meeker, a good source of information.
