Finally on the list for a new longbow
« on: December 21, 2013, 08:55:00 PM »
The wife is to good to me she had me call Big Jim and get on the list for a new buffalo bow. She did this for me for Christmas. I love that woman
. I am thinking of black and white ebony with the buffalo horn overlays all over maybe not on the belly not sure yet. If you was or are ordering up a new one what would be your choice of woods

You may consider the wood named 'Sow's Ear'.

Believe this wood would not even present a challenge for Big Jim to craft into a masterpiece.

I just received a pallet of wood from my secret santa full of wonderful offerings.
On it were many of the "old standby's" you know, bocote, Zebra, wenge, chechen, bloodwood, east indian rosewood. And while there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those, some of the more exciting woods that I received were, lots of gabon, merado, and some particularly attractive indian ebony (might be a bow for bigjim in there  :)  )

Oh yeah, I still have lots and lots of other choices with quite a bit of superb black and white ebony.

This pallet of wood was even more breathtaking when I was handed the invoice!

Big Jim I would love to see pictures of the Indian ebony. Maybe you could post some of that wood here or send some my way

:biglaugh:  Good choice! I'm on the list too and I have no idea what I want. I think I'll just have Big Jim pick!

BigJIm don't mind picking, but it helps to have some parameters or you just might end up with a bow that has too much "Bling" for the blind.

Bob, If Brent has time tomorrow, I'll get those pics posted. I just don't know how and after a couple of failed attempts at posting pictures, I have resided to the facts...I am computer illiterate by choice  :)
