Bohning Crester

Anyone have any experience with the New Bohning Cresting machine? I'm looking into purchasing it but it's very expensive at about $220.  Any feedback good and bad would be really appreciated.

Do yourself a favor and get a Spinrite from Dan. It is less money and is the best on the market. It is fully adjustable. Dan wrote the book on customer service too!

Got a bohning used and it works okay but as soon as I get enough spare nickels together I will be securing a spinrite. Two totally different machines IMHO..... Sorta like comparing a Ford Escort to a Chevy Corvette. Ever look at the bar code cresting ad from spinrite....nuff said.

I looked at the spinrite and all the posted videos. It looks pretty nice. However, the New Bohning looks like it's fully adjustable and sturdy. If I was comparing the spinrite to the old Bohning, there wouldn't have been a discussion.

I just looked at the Bohning site to see the new crester. It doesn't look bad but I'm still going to recommend the Spinrite.
Not only is the Spinrite crester superior in design and use but the customer service is second to none.
I've been a direct recipient of Spinrite's customer service and I can state with no qualms that it's the best out there.

I never cared for the fiberglass pole on the newer AS cresters.   The new bohning crester looks like some crazy copy of the arrow specialties concept.

btw they're not made anymore.  Hunt around you'll find one I'm sure.  If not I might know of one collecting dust in a buddies closet.

I too use nothing but the Spinrite Crester.  Best product on the market for cresting arrows in my opinion.

I took my business to the next level a few weeks ago and doing it more as a full time job. You won't find another machine but a Spin rite in my shop!!
I did get a chance to look at the bohning one didn't do anything for me. My father is at the ATA show said it was nice I am sure it works just fine. But will stick to my Spinrite.

I will say this I had a bad switch on one of my spinrites he mailedme a new that same day and was back up and running along with he sent some extra spair parts just to nice. I dought I would get that service from Bohning they are just to big of a manufacturer to be that fast and make me feel appreciated the way they did at Spinrite

Personally I prefer the Philips Pro Crester. It spins faster and has fewer contact points. I had an earlier model Spinrite and it had some issues with wheel degradation, shafts tracking away from he stop, and the stabilizing wheels hitting my work and it spins slower than I like. It does have the adjustablity to take the wobble out of a crooked shaft but a shaft ike that isn't ready for sealing anyway. I'm not sure how much he has tweaked the design so my complaints may be dated, but I would research the other upper grade units before dropping your cabbage on any one.

I have not seen the new crester but I like my Spinrite. I also have a Phillips and it is good but it has issues. My only complaint is neither one likes to crest at the nock end. I like to hide the joint where the nock meets the shaft.
Customer service from Dan is outstanding. I was able to get new rings from him ASAP.

My only issue with the Philips is the lack of an on/off switch. It blew my mind when I got it.

I just looked at the new bohning crester, nothing like the spinrite,looks like the same price too.sorry but the bohning does not come close to the spinrite

I have just returned the new Bohning to the shop for a refund. First impressions was that it was a cheap toy, the motor was no bigger than my fingernail and the little plastic wheels wobbled like a toy cars do.
It started off ok and I managed to crest half a dozen arrows although the arrow needed kick starting to get the motor to turn but the tiny speed control lasted for just those 6 arrows before it gave in and went on a go slow. Obviously the circuit board went crazy on the one I received.
This could be a one off and I received a bad apple, but in my opinion, after paying £150 (Over $200) it was definitely not worth the money, even if it hadn't broken down.
   

Of course, many people will be very satisfied with theirs, it's just for that sort of money, I would want a machine more rugged
