Dyed some naturals
« on: January 07, 2014, 09:15:00 AM »
I had a few 80/85 Surewood Shafts laying around. Woke up with an inspiration for them. Since I was processing some nat. turkey feathers for a guy I did a few for these. Also gave me a chance to try out a commerical dye I purchased recently. The dye is a keeper.

Man you make some pretty arrows!  Reminds me of a half dozen I bought many years ago off the big auction site that were capped and such like yours only yellow/black fletching.  They were good arrows.  I have no idea who would've made them.

Thanks Matthew. Love your Dwight saying! I'd take it another step and say "eat what you shoot or don't shoot it".

shafting/staining/crown dipping/cresting by Wilderness Arrows for St. Jude's auction last year. Feathers from Matt Gundock at Turkey Flite Traditional and fletching by me.

David, I'm going to have to get with you on an idea I have for this years St. Judes Auction.  Gosh, it's only 5 months away!!!   ;)

I like the stain color. Nice find.

What commercial dye did you use? I have been toying with buying some Veniard dye for feathers. Have you tried Veniard?

I remember David saying recently that he was going to be trying Veniard dye, so I'd say that is what he used.

Veniard is the dye I used. I was stirred to another suppler of dyes that are used in dyeing feathers for making trout flies. This supplier has a lot more colors and is a little less money. I'll let you how this works out.

Ray, you've got me wondering now.....
