I have just been forced to a 42#@28 recurve by upcoming heart surgery, and I still NEED to shoot a little bit every day! So, this is what I've found. The lightest spine carbons I had were FMJ .500s. At 25 yards they consistently hit 6-8" to the left(I'm RH). An 1818 aluminum hits about 2" to the left. These were already fletched and I did not take the time to bare shaft for a temporary need. Btw, both my shafts had 140 grain points and were 28.5" long. Yes, a better job of tuning could be done with a little effort. But, from this I would think a .600 or an 1816 aluminum might be just about right
