Archer's paradox/arrow spine

Found this video and thought you guys might like it.  Kinda helps archers paradox and arrow spine choice make a little more sense.

Yup, I send that one to folks all the time. Most are amazed to see how much an arrow flexes as it leaves the bow. It's also a very good way to show that the arrow does not begin to rotate until it's well out in front of the bow.
The author of the video, Daniel Yononindo, is a member of TradGang and is a hell of a nice fellow.

The "quintessential" video demonstrating archer's paradox. Thanks, I had not seen the extended version.  It demonstrates something I've suspected for a long time....that rest, sideplate, and fletching wear issues are as much an issue of improper spine slection as the things we like to blame it on. Notice that on the majority of the correctly spined shots the nock end of those arrows were well wide of the riser when they went by?  Explains why I've had bows that the rest material seemed to never wear out an others I was not so attentive to and mindlessly kept changing it! Also, video experts chime in here...there've been several inadvertently misleading videos posted showing apparent slack in bow strings on release and odd limb distortions that were purely due to mismatched "frames per second" capability of the video equipment depicting things that really weren't happening at all.  I'm certainly no expert and everything is somewhat exagerrated in slo-mo, but this video seems completely "legit" and accurate from the standpoint that I see no unusual pause/distortion of the strings/limbs in relation to what's going on. Correct me if I'm wrong.

When I watched this amazing video again I think it disproves another theory I've considered. Ever take a 3D shot where you new at the moment you released that the sight picture was slightly off, you plucked, etc. and the shot still found the 10 ring? Not that it happens all that often with me(lol), but often enough I've wondered if our hands are far less steady than we think and the mind is constantly "compensating" for our flaws by making subconscious, subtle corrections in the pressure of our bow arm/hand right up until the arrow clears?  Nah, maybe not. If it were so, with all of the minute, snaking oscillations the camera is revealing with those arrows that bow hand should be waving all over the place.  I detect some "flexing", but it is pretty much "dead nuts" solid. Oh well, it was a nice thought!

That video was made by Yononindo on Trad Gang. It is one of, if not, the best video I have ever seen showing the way the arrows bend and move when shot out of a bow. He is very good with a camera and had lots of good videos.

It is absolutely crazy how much the arrow shakes and bakes when it hits the target, and we cannot see any of it with the naked eye!

Those arrows hitting the bale in slow motion really show you why a stiffer spine arrow would penetrate better..... I'm not an avid believer in EFOC arrows, but seeing that video makes a guy wonder if it's not worth looking into using stiffer shafts.

I watched the video with the sound off because the wife was watching TV next to me, so if this is a dumb question just say so.

It appeared to me most of the arrows were woodies. I would be interested in a slo-mo video comparing woddies, alums and carbons and their recovery rates. I know carbons are stiffer for the same weight and everyone agrees they recover much faster, but "much" is a relative term. It would be fun to see how much of that flopping around is going on a few feet out from the bow with all three materials.

All three materials are shot in the video-watch closely and you can see what's what.
