LH quiver on a RH bow?
« on: January 22, 2014, 05:00:00 PM »
my ole man was telling me back in the days of old where he was from him and his brothers used bow quivers but the arrow fletching was up and points where down... I was telling him why I don't like to shoot with a bow quiver on and its not because I shoot different but once I spooked a nice buck when I started to raise my bow because the brand-new fletching scraped against my leg and made a loud scrape sound so since then I immediately hang the quiver when I get in the stand.

my father new exactly what I was talking about and said that's why they did it like that but he said in those days the quivers where universal so it was easy to try..

anyone ever do this or remember anyone who did,, just curious if I should try a lefty on my righty.

??  and the first time your fletching hits a limb or leaf above you the same/opposite problem will exist.  The risk of having the quiver on the bow(which I prefer)

I like to hunt with "shot in" fletching so that it has taken on some wear and tear before season and is quieter.  I really like arrows that have been through a deer or two and cleaned up a bit.  Those flechings are really quiet.

I would think your quiver hood would catch all sorts of stuff like weed seeds, bark, and especially rain water.

I use RH limb bolt quivers on my LH belly mount takedowns.
That tucks the quiver in nice and close to the riser where it is out of the way.

If it works for someone and accomplishes what they want then they should, by all means, use what they are comfortable with.

Hmm,, I've never hit a limb with my top limb I think because I'm usually on a stand and I remove all that stuff,, spot and stalk I can understand that.

quiver hood? my father uses the same quiver on his bear now that I think he used in the old days which has NO hood all exposed broad heads so there won't be any rain filling the hood up

I do agree about the broken in feathers,,, Its been over 28yrs for me doing this so I still don't intend to shoot with a quiver on unless its a 3D just was curious if anyone else shot one like that and if I should at least give it a go but decided I'll stick with what I've been doing.
