Fred Bear is my relative.

I was given the book remembering PaPa Bear for Christmas. I finally got around to reading it. On page 10 I was shooked to learn that Fred's Mother was A Drawbaugh, my last name. As I read on I came across the name Daniel Drawbaugh which was his Mother's uncle. Daniel was well know in the Drawbaugh family. He had a case in the US Supreme Court against Bell Telephone. He claimed to have a patent on the telephone before Bell. Bell telephone settled the case even though the Court sided with Bell, anyway back to Fred. Daniel was his Mother's uncle and was also my Grandfather's uncle. So I think that makes us cousins several generations removed.  

One would think I could shoot better given this information.    
I thought this was an interesting bit of history I thought i would share. Anyone else have root with Fred Bear? I would love to know.

That's awesome.  Pretty cool thing for you to find out for sure. I would personally keep going down the rabbit hole making contacts to those family members and see whom you can get in touch with. You never know.  People that may have known him well or that can pass on information or stories that some may have never heard or things that were lost in time.

Assuming you're a righty, I would say that if you shot left handed I'm sure you could shoot as well as Fred.      

My late father's name was Fred, does that make me kin to Fred Bear as well???

I have uncles that have traced our family tree over the years. I'm getting with them to see what I can find out.

Im not related to fred Bear, but I am related to a fella named Charlie Payne who is in the Michigan bowhunters hall of fame. He was also a boyer and and product developer and I have seen broadheads he made and arrows in several collections. He killed bucks in the first 3 bow seasons Michigan ever had and I have some newspaper clippings about it, 1937.1938 and 1939 I believe. He shot in tournaments around the area and was known as the "little John of Michigan" because he shot bows in the 100lb range he built himself.
