Baraga specs?
« on: January 25, 2014, 02:40:00 AM »
Hi all, Got me a new to me 64" Baraga on the way and for the life of me can't find any exact info on the thing so I can guesstimate some shafts for it. I emailed Northern Mist, but I imagine they are busy folks, so no word back yet. If any of you Baraga owners know what the center cut and specified brace heights are, I would appreciate the info. Oh ya, how many strands of fast flight does it have as well?

Thanks much

Mine is 45# @ 29" I shoot 55-60 cedars full length with 125 gr up front. I brace it at 7".

Shelf is cut about +3/16", brace from 6.5-7.

Got to chat with Steve a little today, his booth is always busy!

Thank you Westbrook, looks like I might have some noodly enough shafts to get the Baraga active with that center cut.

As a side note, I sure do miss living in Michigan for the archery rich environment. Lived in Paw Paw, and Portage through high school 20+ years ago. Loved that there was always a place to go shoot and BS with people of similar interest.

I have a 53@28 64" Baraga, I think I draw it 27" exactly the brace is 6 5/8 and the wood arrow it loves is 45-50 sure woods,28" BOP with 160gr broad heads, 5" fletch totaling 565gr. Steve did tell me FF is okay on the baraga as long as the string has padded loops.

Just picked up mine Saturday at the Kazoo show, talking with Steve as far as brace height he said start at 6 1/4"-6 3/4" and work your way down til you get good arrow flight.   Mine is a 64' baraga, 51@28"....LOVE IT!!! smooth very little hand shock & I actually hit what I was looking at!!  I took some 3555 GTs that are 28 1/2" long with 125 grain tips and it shot them great, didn't have a nock set yet, just eyeballed the arrow on the string, and whisper quiet!!! no string silencers!!!!  I think it'll be even quieter with a little more weight forward.
Too many bows to list, and so many more I want to try!  Keep the wind in your face, and your broadheads sharp.

Ooh, news I like to hear. These bows sound like they are forgiving and a pleasure to shoot.

I know of a guy that had a 54# and shot .600 carbons with 200+ up front. That was bare shaft tuned. He said others shot good but just not great, so he bare shafted and came up with this combo and it was perfect. That shelf is cut a good bit from center so you really gotta soften up that arrow, especially carbons.
