Bowyer like Miller?
« on: January 26, 2014, 06:10:00 PM »
Does anyone now of a Bowyer like Mr. Miller?  I am looking for a longbow, all wood with boo backing like his Sage model.  Does anyone else build these?

Bob.

Bob,

I have a Saluki bow that is 58# @ 29" (marked, but is a couple of pounds lighter than this) and is all wood with bamboo on back and belly.

Mine is currently for sale at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear.

Thanks,
Rob

Bob let me suggest that you also consider looking at an IPE/bamboo backed bow.

Check out the bow building forum on here and see what folks have to say about them.

Just a suggestion.

I've built a few but I'm no Miller! Sure love shooting the ones that I have made.

Always wanted to take Miller's bow building class.

Tracy makes a heck of a bow! If I didn't have such a long draw I'd have been able to shoot that baby last time I was out!

There is a guy in Minnesota that makes an all bamboo longbow, can't recall his name, was at the Coon Rapids Shoot a couple of years ago, just for Saturday I think, shot one of his bows, did have some interest in but did not buy.....

Another bowyer you might want to contact is John Strunk with Spirit Longbows.  When it comes to all wood bows John has done it all and if he hasn't he's always ready for a new challenge.
