Ok turkey season in sc opens in April but I thought I'd try to get some conversation started. For you veterans of killing birds with trad equipment. I figured I'd ask for any advice, tips, or tricks anyone wants to offer. My short resume of success in this area includes having killed one Tom with non trad gear (compound) and my long list of goofs involve having done everything wrong imaginable from moving too much to setting a blind up 30 yards from a roost and watching the silhouettes of birds fly away before dawn... (Yeah that last one worked out horribly). The plus side is that I keep learning how to mess up a turkey hunt, so by default I'm ruling out the bad options I have lol. My goal though is to take a bird with my recurve, and to learn how to find them with some regularity. So how do you guys do it? For those that wear plaid, do you opt for camo in turkey season? Or do the plaids work just as well? Do y'all lug around big pop up blinds or some pruners and a saw and make a blind on the fly? I've had lots of luck with deer like that but no experience with turkeys. I'm sure there are lots who would love to read tips and stories so please feel free to share.
