My son and I both have Garmin the model might be 60csx, or something. It gets reception everywhere.
Don't get anything expensive or complicated unless you want to enter information with a crappy keyboard and havta' learn new
stuff.
At my age I'm not buying anything anymore that comes with a manual! LOL

Yes Fred the sale must be over. I bought mine around Christmas as a gift to myself. I got the 450. Looks like it's $189 now. I believe we met at Wensel's Bootcamp in Iowa last year. I hope you are well!

Keith I'll be going the second week to Marfa , wherever that is , good luck on your hunt .
Dan , I've gotten along fine with just a compass but based on the size of the ranch Barry recommends a GPS
Brady I'm holding up and it figures I am too late for the sale my luck , when my ship comes in I'll be at the airport . And yes we met at the bootcamp , hope you got to use some of the knowledge gained  to have had a great season .

X2 for garmin etrex.  I've used them for years and the most recent ones do have sensitive antennas.

Map and compass still work too.
