This is getting expensive ...

I only made a handful of arrows for the season.  This is the third one I've split in a week.   :knothead:

the arrow isnt split is it? Just the nock, right? Get one of those targets with five spots on it and shoot one arrow at each one...or better yet, start doing some roving, rather than shooting a static target.

Your shooting is getting too good to shoot a single spot with a quiver full of arrows, eh?

Hard to see, but there's a chunk taken out of the carbon right after the nock.  Actually, I think the "tracer" gives you something to shoot at ...

As an aside ... For those who haven't tried it, an old 5/16 drill bit (butt first) is perfect for knocking epoxied inserts out of shafts.

Man, I stopped doing that a long time ago. C'mon over to my range and I will show you a few tricks that will help you avoid doing that again.

Nice shot!

Got my second Robin Hood last week. I love doing it though! Ray's suggestion is a good one. I'd go with the roving though you may lose even more arrows-I don't like shooting at paper.

Try shooting between one of the hen and cock feathers not at the nocks. Works for me   ;)

I got tired of splitting arrows also, so now I just move a few feet left then right, or up and down to give me a little bit of an angle. It works:)

Roy, I bet your field tips were happy when you got that foam target and stopped shooting the fire extinguisher!

I never thought about changing the angle-good idea.  After a point in my short archery career, I got good enough to start busting arrows/nocks once in a while (or unlucky enough!).  That got old real quick, especially after I started building my own arrows, so I only shoot a couple before I retrieve them.  I figure I am only going to get one or two shots at an animal, so it helps my practice be more realistic.
