I learned something today

I fletched a dozen arrows very carefully for my upcoming hunt with True South. The next day when I looked at them the large end ( string end ) of the feathers on most of the arrows was loose and or curled up ( making more twist ). After working on them a bunch I figured out what went wrong.
Maybe most of you already know this, but I just learned it the hard way. No more super glue for my feathers. I'll have to pick up some more Fletch Tite when I am in the big city ( no one has any here in our title town :( )

Hmm,I've been using fletchtape and super glue (locktite gel) for a couple years now with no such failures. Only carbon and aluminum, though. Do you run a nail down the fletch after you remove the clamp?

I'm surprised too, as I've been using fletchtape and putting a drop of super glue at each end. No problems so far.

Yeah, I use Locktite gel as Shooty1 does and never had an issue. I'd say you need to switch glues.

You know, Tom, if you're at work and learn something new, you get to go home. If you're at home and learn something new, you get to take the next work day off. I'm hoping for you that super glue does dissolve the sticky on fletch tape-you'll get a free day off!!

Some Super Glue will hold a higher bead, others settle flat and shrinks away as it dries. The very running stuff in the little tubes is always a problem for me. I have found that just the slightest film of the runny stuff, that seems pretty dry, will hold your fingers to your ear forever.

Pavan, I guess that would pretty well set your anchor point, kinda permanent like!
I have been using the runny super glue and too much of it, it seems.
Selfbow, my reward for learning something this time is canceled flights to Florida to hunt with Jim and Irv at True South. Our flight are two days later, I hope I get there in time to hunt some.

were your feathers AMG ? they have a very stiff quill. I have used them in past and my tape had a hard time keeping them straight on the arrow.
