Shot self bows off my hand and liked it.  Anybody shoot  a  long bow like a northernmist. Or hill type  bow with no rest ?

Did it for a long time with my selfbows, but I found, suprisingly, that I could get the arrow on the bow faster with a shelf. Still shoot some of my native style D selfbows that way though. Can't bring myself to glue a shelf on them!

Check out the bows Dick Wightman was building.  Lots of cool stuff in his site as well as a bunch of bows with no shelf.

I did this once on an old old bow no rest even built on bow. Drove a feather clear through the webbing of my thumb and first finger. Ripped the feather right off the arrow and had to pull, hard, to get feather out of my skin. That was the first and last for me. They do make a shooting glove for people who shoot without a rest and reccomend you use one.

I had to get a Glove for my Bow Hand. Got tired of the Fletching Ripping the Hide off!!      :goldtooth:
