RER XR Any Limb Pads?
« on: February 22, 2014, 02:16:00 PM »
I just bought a used RER XR and wondered if it was supposed to have any kind of limb pads. I've only had one previous takedown and it had some inner tube rubber-like pads. I'm emailing the bowyer and seller as well, but know the Tradgang brain trust may be faster. Thanks!

It quiets some bows down a bit, and it helps kill the harmonic vibration from the limbs going into the riser. rubber or cork works well.

No need on RER bows if limbs were made for your riser. Just wax a the limb plate and it will be just fine

I just bought one from Kevin at the Kalamazoo Expo and asked him specifically about that, since he didn't put anything on the limbs when assembling it. He said if I hear any squeaking noise, put a thin layer of plastic shopping bag between the riser and limb. If no noise; don't bother. I figure he's the one to know    :)

I've had no noise from mine at all, so I'll just wipe it with a bit of paste wax once in a while.

My XR is pretty good too, but I did have to take off a suede leather limb tip protector I had on it. I was getting hand shock that went from the bow, straight thru my bow elbow, that caused me discomfort enough to stop shooting. I pulled that thing off, and no shock or noise either. Not from Kevin, but I've heard of rubber washers being used on bows with take-down limbs too.
