String Arrow Nock
« on: February 26, 2014, 02:36:00 AM »
Hi TG!

I finally got my new custom long bow today.

This bow comes with a flemish string and I shoot 3 under.

Just wondering if anyone knows how to make a string nock point.

Sorry for my poor explaination... hope this picture helps

Basically I wanted the one piece nock in figure 2 instead of 1.

I heard someone using dentist floss + wood glue to do so but I have no idea how.

Thank you

If you check the "how to " section on the forum there are a couple threads on this. Hope that helps you out.

I would go with #1 and add dental floss in between only if you need to tighten up nock fit. Don't glue anything for a while until your string is shot in and fully stretched.
shoot straight shoot often

I agree with this^^^^.

I'm not sure I am seeing your picture correctly, but if you shoot 3-under, you need a lower nocking point also.

Jono,

Rick ****** has a video tutorial on the stickbow site. It's just what you're looking for, here's the link.  http://***********.bowsite.com/TF/lw/thread2.cfm?forum=23&threadid=247770&category=

As has been pointed out, there are several tutorials on this and other sites that show how to tie (moveable and permanent) string nocks. Generally, if you tie two nock sets, it wouldn't be a good idea to run thread through the nock area from one to the other (picture # 2) because it will quickly wear and break, and subsequently begin to unravel the nock sets.

Wow thanks for the advise.

Nearly forgot aboutthe string stretch.

And yes, I actually wanted to use this kind of nock because my nocks on my arrows are too big
