Marking a bow?

What do you use to write on a bow and then what do you use to cover it.
I tried writing over wipe on poly with a fine point sharpie, let I sit over night and the ink didn't dry and it wiped right off.
Your thoughts??

This would be a good question for the bowyers bench gang. They will tell you exactly what you need.

I use a sharpie type marker. But if there's too many coats of clear it might not dry. Then it will cover after 4 coats of clear or so. Best to put it on the raw wood or after 1 coat of claer

I use paint pens after one or two coats of spray on finish. Then spray on another two or so coats of finish.

India ink is what most builders use.

A fine point Pilot paint pen. Put a coat of sealer underneath, then write the stuff, let dry and spritz sealer over top lightly until you build it up enough.
