Does Hoyt Gamemaster I take ILF limbs?
« on: March 03, 2014, 12:39:00 PM »
I've seen conflicting answers to this question. Will my Hoyt Gamemaster I (the earlier, Pre-II, version) accept any ILF limb? I thought the Hoyts (GM's, Dorado, Tiburion, and Buffalo) only accepted Hoyt proprietary limbs, but I've seen references to putting ILF's on them. Is an adapter required?

Thanks very much in advance for any input.

I have a gamemaster I and have mounted ILF limbs. Yep you need to buy an adapter bushing for the task. You can get them at Lancaster's and maybe Three Rivers too.

You basically just push out the dovetail fitting and push in the new adapter. You may gave to sand about a 1/16 of an inch off the end of the ILF limb to get to fit. I did the sanding by hand with a sanding block. Taking my time and doing the try and fit thing it took all about 30 minutes.

Or you can have Sam Dunham machine the riser to accept ILF and be done with it. He did one for me and it worked out beautifully. Now all my ILF limbs work on it without any bushing nuisance.

I just put a nice set of ******** ILF longbow limbs on my Gamemaster. I love it. Quiet and shoots really nice. I also have a set of ******** recurve limbs in medium length that work real well. Just change out the bushings and your good to go. Lancaster always seems to be out of the bushings. Let me know if you need some and I might be able to fix you up. jwingman

Great; thanks guys! I don't have any ILF limbs yet; but my 50# Hoyt GM limbs are heavier than I want at this point, so I'll be looking for a set of 40# ILFs...maybe the TT Black Max Glass/Woods?

JC - I never thought of that. I like it! I'll see if Mr Dunham can do mine that way.

shuter - if your really gonna go ILF, what JC mentioned above would be the way to go. Especially if you start collecting limbs. Though it's not hard to fit ILF limbs to the Gamemaster it'd be nice not to have to buy bushings at 20 bucks a pop.

I just pressed out the ilf and cut some 3/8 pvc to fit. Ream out the inside slightly over size. Worked great on my dorado and for like three bucks I have enough to last  a lifetime. If the hole on the back bothers you you can get some plugs at an auto parts store and press in then paint.

JC & Steve, thanks; I will check into that. I have PM'd Mr. Dunham. I like this idea!
