Fetching questions

Hey guys im new to the arrow making world and don’t know what fletching jig is a good one and which ones will accommodate wood arrows. im looking to do my own fletching with wood arrows. Also any recommendations for a beginner would be appreciated.

Bitzenbergers are the nicest jigs. Duco glue keeps the arrows looking the nicest, but I've had a lot of issues with the feathers falling off. I use fletchtite platinum

I love my Bitzenbergers-tried others but no way. Bitz work great on my wood arrows-it is all I shoot ever. Duco works great on wood.

Jo-Jan has my vote. fletch tape works good and is fast.

JoJan Multi Fletch for me and fletch tape is quick and easy.

The JoJan is good for wood but if you ever branch out to skinnier carbons you will be glad you got a Bitzenburger. As far as glue, fletch tape is the only multifinish option. Depending on your finish you will need either fletchtite platinum or duco depending on compatibility. Are you buying your shafts prefinished or doing them yourself?

Cartel Fletching jig is one of the cheapest but does the job very well. I've made hundreds of arrows with it. Straight fletching, off set fletching, 3 or 4 feather fletching works nicely. Helical isn't possible tough

im doing them myself just buying the bare uncut shafts from 3rivers

I hunt in Idaho weather and have used a Bitzenberger for years with fletch tape and a dab of duco at each end of my feathers.  I use douglas fir raw shafts stain and finish coat then fletch.

thanks guys =] idk what im going to do. at the moment im cramped up in my dorm room so im not sure if i really even have room to fletch

Don't need all that much room to fletch, can be done on the kitchen table, coffee table, or a TV table. Finishing the shafts doesn't need much room either, do whatever sanding you need to outside, wipe on finish ( couple o coats ) let 'em dry in a corner, and you'll be ready to fletch. I'm with most of the guys above, get the bitz, its the last fletcher you'll ever need to buy.

I have a Jo-Jan and it is good; but if you get into tapering the last 12" or 10" of a wood shaft (I do this) or any other long tapers the Bitzenburger is easier to adjust for good alignment along the whole quill base.

I bought a good size storage/tool box at Walmart.  Has compartments in the lid and a lift-out shelf.  Keeps all my fletching chit in one spot. I have a Bohning Pro Class jig and use fletchTite platinum.  Just keep my storage box in the closet until I can get a little dining room table time. Sometimes I try to get some arrows done while the kids are doing their homework so we get some talk time during the week.
