UH OH!
« on: September 18, 2007, 04:39:00 PM »
I've been struggling with trad gear for about 3 yrs now. Gave up for about 6 months and about to start back as I should havea a new bow here in a few weeks.Well I've been studying form andfigured out that I've not been coming to my full draw length by using my shoulders--drawing elbow not inline with bow arm. I've been simulating this draw technique for practice and decided to check my draw length. Here's the UH OH part--draw length comes to almost 31in! I like that, longer power stroke, bad part is I ordered a 60in Chek-Mate H2,52@29in. My experience has been that a bow that short will never draw that far. They hit a wall or stack like crazy. Any thoughts on this?
If this bow will shoot that draw-what do ya think about a 2216-31.5in with 125gr BH? Draw weight should come in around 58lb@31.  :knothead:

If it does work out, I would use more liike 150 up front on the 2216.

I draw 30.5"....and hate to say it, buy yes--that bow's a bit short, and that arrow's too stiff.

You should try 62", or better yet, 64".  Yeah, some guys will say "hey, Black Widow's will go to 31" with a 60" bow", and I'm here to say that I just got a brand new 64" Widow 'curve, and am darn glad it's no shorter...

Some well-tillered bows will go to 31" and still have a 62" overall length, but pretty much should be custom orderd.

Greg at gmarchery.com had some 64" chek mate curves in stock that were tillered to 31"...you may want to cut a deal with him...

Take Care,
Marc

Id get to CheckMate and see if a limb swap was available - not sure if it is just limbs or a longer riser..... never know unless you ask....

I have talked with Chad at recurves.com and he is working on getting a 62" bow for me.Hoefully it won't delay it's arrival.Changed to 52@31". He said the 60" bow would work, but a 62' bow would be more comfortable.
