I've never killed a 3 legged deer, but over the decades a couple guys at the club have, with rifles in thicker cover. Of those, they said they didn't even know the bucks had only 3 legs until they walked up on them. Basically, the deer were just fine. My dad killed one of those and he said it was chasing a doe. I imagine a 3 legged deer may have problems in deep snow.

I would shoot her if shes suffering or having some issues. But I will pass if shes healthy, has little ones, and otherwise doing well. I think it would be cool to have her around and see how she does.

I've seen more than one deer with 3 legs making it just fine. They didn't seem to have any handicap issues at all.
I also saw a e legged Timber Wolf in Canada a few years ago while on a Black Bear Hunt. This dude was at least 125 lbs. and jumped over downfalls like he had 4 legs. One amazing sight for sure. I figured he lost his right front leg in a trap.

There was a 3 legged doe in Wisconsin we saw for 3 years. she was a big ole gal and really smart. I saw her at least 2 dozen times and had her in my personal space once. My arrow missed her at 8 steps
IDK it was something about not picking a spot.
Its easy for a 16 year old to get worked up over the possibility of taking their first deer lol.

Yeah Cyclic-Rivers, if they survive wounds, crippled deer become very smart... Have a story about a cripple doe behind the house if/when I get a chance to type it...

We had a three legged doe traveling back and forth from my land to my friends, she had fawns every year she was around.

Way back when 40's through 60's, hay was cut with sickle mowers. Used to have a lot more three legged deer back then. Most survived quite well.

We had a three legged doe behind the house one year and we just could not shoot her. She got along fine and even had buck chasing her. She was quite agile for a tripod.
I also had a 3 legged buck come to a grunt call after I had hunted him for a long time. He was an old buck for sure and was fairly poor in condition, body wise. His drop tines helped me to decide that I should take him out of his misery, lol.
