Packing bags for a trip to Georgia
« on: March 28, 2014, 06:14:00 PM »
Less than a week until I make the 12 hour journey south to my combination hog/turkey/bowfishing trip to hunt with Jerry of Russell Outdoor Guides.  Many of you will remember that Jerry offered a free early Xmas present drawing for this combo hunt back in December and I was the lucky recipient.  The hunt is going to be next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Also going along on this adventure will be fellow local tradganger "Little Jake".   We are leaving south central PA next Thursday evening and will begin our hunt on Friday afternoon.  My gear is almost packed, broadheads are being sharpened and I have been shooting my hog and turkey targets in preparation.  Recently while I was in Georgia I was able to meet up with Jerry to introduce myself and also got to drive by the hunting area to see the terrain.  To say that I am looking forward to this trip is an understatement.

On this hunt I will be carrying my Morrison Phoenix 15" riser that is paired with Dryad ACS CG longbow limbs set at 50 lbs @ my 26" draw.   Arrows are CE 150 carbons with 100 grain brass inserts and 175 grain Simmons Tigersharks for a total arrow weight of 590 grains.

I will be sure to photograph as much as the trip as possible so that I can bring the entire experience here to tradgang.

Thanks guys.   Sam, you live in some great country and from what little time I have spent in central Georgia I have met a lot of down to earth, friendly people.

Did a little scouting for birds and will run the water to see if the big fish are up yet. The temps have been up there pretty high which is great for the birds and fish.

Looking forward to getting out there with you guys!

Those turkeys pics and the hog photos you had sent earlier won't make this week any shorter!  Glad you are going along Allen.
