tribute to my broken bow

Hey guys I thought some of you might enjoy this. This is the first bow I have ever made in my life and sadly it didn't live near long enough.
I made it out of bamboo, white oak, and purple heart. It came out a slight string follow with a classic D shaped profile. It shot very well and was not too terribly slow either. It was 66" overall and 50# at 28".
I spent a month building it and applied the last coat of finish and added the shelf rest material just this morning. Not 2 hours later at full draw she snapped in half. I am a little disheartened at the moment but I will start my next build here soon. The next one will be cedar with hickory backing that I hope turns out better from the experiences I learned from this bow. So here is a small pictorial of the building of the bow until it's life ended abruptly. Enjoy SS

Heartbreak! Not my choice of belly wood with bamboo, you need to just jump into this thing and get another piece of bamboo and maybe ipe, osage, hickory for your belly wood.

Good first bow! I've broke them before that never launched an arrow. White oak's better for a backing than a belly; the boo's too strong for it. Try some osage ore ipe. I bet you can find some osage locally.

It just sucks when they break! But that is the nature of board and self bows. Sometimes they just don't get a very long life!
