Spirit 46# Longbow spine question
«

I really hate to post another arrow spine question due to the fact I figured it out twice before for my 2 recurves. But being new to a longbow I just had to ask.
Out of my 45# Excel/BM limbed recurve I am shooting Easton 1916's with great success.
Think they would shoot right with the longbow also? I know just try them and I will but I kinda wanted to try a Carbon with my longbow. Thinking of a 500 spine Gold Tip Trad.
All comments and suggestions GREATLY appreciated. My LB will be shipping from RMS Monday and I want to be ready.
Thanks, joe

It may make a difference depending on the center cut of your longbow, but the 35/55's (.500 spine) are where I would start. Then just trim and tune to fit. There are much more knowledgable guys that will be able to give you better advice, though.
You could also give Big Jim a call, too, because he's the man when it comes to fitting people with carbon arrows!

Call RMSG where you ordered the bow, if they haven't shipped the bow yet, they will shoot it at your draw length and match an arrow to it. Even if they have shipped it already they probably have another one that's close.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

You will need a weaker spine than your recurve. A 1916 spines at .621. A .500 spine will be too stiff. .600 will be stiff also, you will have to use more point weight or leave them longer than your 1916's are. I would go with a 1816 aluminum or a .700 spine CX predator shaft.

X2 on calling RMS. On my 52# spirit I was shooting a CX heritage 150 with 200 up front. We did have to cut it but I can't remember how much.

A 35/55(.500 spine) may work out for you depending on length and weight upfront.I find you can't compare a carbon spine with an aluminum spine.Add a couple hundred grs. up front and the dynamic spine won't be a .500 spine arrow at full length.Start full length and trim and tune from there.

i know this is going to sound stiff, but I shoot a 48# Spirit and use 55/75 shafts at 30". I use a 125 gr. field tip or broadhead and they fly perfectly. I would guess that I'm shooting about 53-54# with this setup. You'll be very happy with one of Bryan Holley's bows!
