Elk Hunting Setups

Tell me about your setup for elk and other heavier game, poundage, draw length, arrow weight, length and broadhead. My current setup is a 30" CE terminator 6075 with a 175 gr Magnus MA2 at about 540 grains shot out of my 56# @28 Bighorn. Curious as to what others are shooting because my current arrows are no longer in production and my supply is dwindling.

A gold tip 5575 at 30" with 175 point would be close and around 500 grains.

70#@28'' longbow.
700gr arrow. Shaft is an Easton Aftermath 300 carbon footed with 2'' of 2117 Easton Gamegetter Aluminum. 50gr brass inserts with 300gr points, in my case grizzly kodiak 200s on 100gr steel adapters. 4'' Bohning arrow wraps, 4X3'' A&E style fletchings applied as far back as I can on the shaft while still getting my fingers by.

Exactly where in Colorado are you loafing at? If money is no object you should check out the CE Maxima Reds. Give Tom and the guys at
www.rmsgear.com
a call. They will know exactly what you need!

Hi I use 55# longbow and 35/55 GT with 125 WW and/or grizzlies. Hit the good spot and you'll have a freezer full.

I like my current setup and have taken an elk with it but I'm running out of arrows, down to 8 until my next bad shot :p I'm just looking for some ideas to tinker with from other elk hunters. My Bighorn does not shoot well with arrows much under 10 GPP. I appreciate the input guys.

Brock at RMSGear got me into the CE maxima reds, and I love em. I'm shooting 30" 250's with 100 gr brass inset and 250 gr head out of both bows I own. What really makes these arrows awesome is I wanted to try the VPA turkey spur bh's but they are only available up to 150 gr. Brock thought they would still fly fine, I was more than a little skeptical. However, my first shot with 150 up front was with a broad head and it flew great.

Thanks again for all the responses, looks like a lot of you guys are shooting similar weight arrows to what I've had good results with. Never spent $150 a dozen for arrows((maxima reds) but if they really have that wide of tolerance for point weight I might get them to shoot well out of more than one bow....Beendare, are they still making the mfx wood grain? Are they similar to the centershots?
