I've looked at the decap from Solid and think it's a great idea for turkeys.

Brandon- guys are using guillotine type, though I know more who have tried the Magnus Bullhead. Problem arises again though- I know of stories (a couple posted right here on TG-this year and last!) where the stickbow just does not have the KE to do the job. Same as body shot- perfect shot, lost bird.

I wouldn't think KE would have anything to do with it when shooting there head off ! I'd never shoot one in the body with a broadhead of that type.

I tried the bullheads last year. I love the idea.
The problem was that no matter how I oriented them, there was too much stuff sticking out in my sight picture. End result was, after the second miss on birds under 10yds, I went back to my broadheads and string tracker.

Nathan- There was a vid posted here last year if I could find it- injured bird. I have heard of other similar results with stickbows.
Here is a post from this year:

Bummer to read this. I have shot (2) turkeys at close range with (2) different bows and broadheads and lost them both. I am done with those odds and thought I would like to try the bullheads or similar style head. I'd rather a clean miss/dead bird then what I've experienced. Bummer to read this style head isn't working as well as I thought it would. Sticking with the boom stick this year.

I'm not a "deer" hunter, I'm a bow hunter that occasionally shoots a deer.

kenn- I posted on another thread here:
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=137182
In my circles it is not uncommon to hear of 4-5 losses for every harvest (maybe even higher). Full survey/study? NO. But I sure hear a lot of this- including compounds on body shots. Every one has to work this out for themselves- I have determined to shoot them in the head with standard broadheads- or a shotgun. All or nothing. Seems my odds of hitting a 3" target is just as good with no harm of being 1" off!

Those D caps from Solid look pretty tough! I use 160 Snuffers and shot this bird while he was strutting. The head/neck isn't much smaller than the sure kill spot on the body and its very easy to pick a spot on. Aim at the neck. a little high, headshot, left or right, clean miss, low still a chance at the vitals. If they aren't strutting, its straight up the legs mid body for me,just because their head never seems to stay still. I might try those D caps next year, guessing it might be a little difficult tuning and getting used to shooting them. I shoot a 66# longbow with heavy arrows ,wonder if they would work well out of that setup?
