Fixing a Hinge- When all Means Fail.........

Would like to tap all bowyer ideas and experience when building a all-wood-bow with boo backing.

When you hit a "hinge" who do you do?

1)removing wood from the stiff area?
2) Knee bending on the hinge area?
3)heating that stiff area?
4)..........

Please share your experiences, much appreciated...

last time I had one from a pin knot and I drilled out the knot , filled it with a dowell and then epoxied a piece of rawhide around it. Forty years later and she's still a shooter.

A hinge is the weakest point in a bow. You have to reduce both limbs to match the hinge. If your bow hinges at 30# your bow won't be stronger than 30#.
