Is your bow fussy???
« on: May 14, 2014, 02:42:00 PM »
I just got another bow.....like I need one. But it's a RER Arroyo 62" 43# @ 28". I was out getting it tuned to my taste and running a few arrows threw her. I shot 2016, 2117, 2216, 2317, 45/60 carbon, 60/75 carbon, 50-55, 55-60, 60-65 cedars and this bow doesn't seem to care. Is your bow fussy or can you get away with a variety of spines? [ I draw 29"]

The fussy bows are gone, what I have left I can shoot a variety of arrows out of with little to no difference, only thing is some of the stiffer arrows are a little longer, but all in all they are quite forgiving

I've had a few fussy bows, that didn't last long. I have a draw over 30", and I personally think it's a lot harder to tune arrows with a longer draw. Possibly because the arrow is on the string longer, and/or the agle of the string is sharper. Either way, since I've started shooting longer bows(66"-68"), I e found it a lot easier to get a good bare shaft.
I also think my realease was getting in the way too. I shoot 3 under, and I was pulling a lot with my ring finger(kind of equally with all 3). Once I started using my top two fingers for the majority of the pull, I noticed a much smoother, and quieter realease.
So maybe the bows weren't as fussy as I thought, but I'm glad I came to the conclusion I did, and found the long bows.

I have two custom longbows at the house, both made by the same bowyer. One wil shoot about anything I nock up, wood, carbon or aluminum. The other doesn't seem to like anything at all!!
Shoot Straight..

My keepers are not fussy as they can shoot the same arrows with different weight heads.........broadheads or fieldpoints it doesnt matter.....and they dont have to be perfectly strait either..............

My two go-to bows will shoot a variety of arrows quite well...one is a Robertson Fatal Styk and the other is, surprise, surprise, an RER LXR

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I get away with a lot Re: different arrow spines.   I tune my arrows to my bows after I have a basic bow setup of my preference.

I really enjoy tuning and spend a lot of time doing it.

I don't know if my bows are fussy or I am. Stupid me I only accept prefection not anything less and will keep working on it until I get it. Weather it is the bow the arrow or me

I have a couple that are just a little bit fussy, but I am not a perfectionist, so it is not a major problem. Since I shoot only woodies, I keep enough arrows on hand at every spine grouping form 35-40 through 75-80 that I can find something that any of my bows will like.

My Widow is very fussy at 54#'s. Tried alot of different bare shafts and tip weight. Finally settled on an old set of Carbon Express CX 300's, and 3 Rivers trad 400's.

P.S. if anyone has the CE CX300's laying around, PM me.

Life's too short for fussy bows. That's easy for me to say since I have an embarrassingly large collection. Some are just hard to shoot. Those make good decorations....
