Bear Razorheads

Hi everyone.  I've got a question for you guys still using Bear Razorheads and glue on heads generally.  I have an unopened pack but can't find the head weight on the package anywhere.  I'm guessing 135gr.?  My next question is on broadhead adaptors.  Are aluminum adaptors ok or should I go with steel depending on the total weight I want?  Thanks for your help.

The glue on Razorheads were advertised as 145 grains but, they weight out around 115 grains.

Depends on what weight you want. A 75 grain steel adapter will allow you to still use the bleeder blades.

The glue on Razorheads were 125 with bleeder and 115 without,though weights vary a little.The ones with aluminum inserts installed,were 145 grs.Back when the Razorhead was introduced and for quite some time,125 gr broadheads were the norm and most common.

If you want to use the bleeders,you need the short,aluminum adapters.The 75 gr steel,that I have are about 1/8" too long,though I haven't put them in a Razorhead.It wouldn't take much to grind them down though.

Thanks guys.  I've never used glue on heads before.  What's the best glue to use?

Some use hot melt.I use epoxy.Often the green paint got scorched when heating for hot melt.Either will work.

Because of the ferrule shape and short adapter,Razorheads are tricky to get the point aligned.An alignment jig will help you get them perfect and takes all the fight and guess work out of it.It doesn't have to be fancy.One can be constructed from scraps of wood etc.

Try the new low temp Ferr-L-Tite.  It is a blue stick.  I use it on all of my arrows and I have yet to pull and insert from the hardest targets- bag or compressed cello-tex.
Inserts and heads are easy to remove or turn with a slight amount of heat applied to the point.  Like any adhesive, make sure the inside of the head is clean and dry.  One of the traditional suppliers even has a tapered brush made for just such a job.  I think it is Lost Nation.
