The short review: Quiet, plenty fast, extremely easy to shoot. I will buy another one.
That last point is the one I want to stress in this review. This bow is extremely easy to shoot. I hate stack and because of my draw length its hard to find a bow that doesn't start to stack at 30".
The 64 SS does the opposite of stack. It gets easier to pull the farther you pull it. It's a really weird feeling at first but it is just awesome. I can load into my back muscles and expand very easily. Being able to do that has really improved my shooting. People always talk about bows that feel like they're 5 pounds lighter. This is the first one that I've tried that actually felt like its 5 pounds lighter. Thats why I'm ordering another one at a heavier draw weight.
The grip on it is another reason why it's so easy to shoot. If you just relax your hand and let it melt into the grip you'll have the exact same grip every shot.
The 64 SS has some feedback after the shot like most recurves do. It is much quieter than most recurves I've shot.
Is it fast? I dont have a chrono but I don't need one to know that this bow is plenty fast. For comparison it's pretty close to my centaur chimera that is 46@30. I don't know which is faster but my guess would be the 64 SS.
The Toelkes are great people and they are known for fast turn around times. When I placed my order Dan said this was their busy season and it would take 7 weeks. Two weeks after I placed my order Dan calls me and says the bow will be ready in a week. I said wow that was fast and he said ya we get to work on them.
The finish is flawless and the bow is beautiful. It also has just the right amount of mass weight. It's light enough to carry in the woods all day and never notice it. But it has enough mass to make it aim really well.
