Check out the History Channel
« on: January 22, 2007, 09:50:00 AM »
There is a show on the History Channel called Digging for the Truth. Today at 2pm it will have a show about the Iceman that was found in Austria. They show how he made his own bow and arrows, his clothing, how he lived. Check it out, it's facinating how hunting hasn't really changed in the last 5000 years.
Just one more step please!

That's a fascinating story. They didn't find out until years after they had recovered the body that he had an arrowhead in his back. There was a thread about this on here a couple of years ago on what or who killed him, and why.

Thanks for the heads up Arwin.  I called my wife and told, I mean asked, her to record it.

Good save Landshark!!! If I "told" my wife do do something I could expect a dull thud sound to suddenly come from my skull.  :knothead:
Glad you all are watching! I seen it this morning and am recording it on the DVR this time.

My 8-year-old brought home a book to read to me last week, and lo and behold, it was about the iceman.  The book must have been printed before it was discovered that he had been shot.  The book explained that he froze to death.  Which may have occurred, but apparently he was incapacitated by the arrow.  Neat stuff.

hey fellas i don't have cable etc... is there anyway to watch that show on-line?  i just looked at the history channel website and it doesn't look like they stream any of their shows....
i saw the ole iceman in the natural history museum last year and they have recreated all of his gear and really had an incredible display set up! pretty fascinating tale.

enjoy the day,
Kyle

FYI  next weeks show is on the monguls and they show the host, josh, shooting a horsebow complete with thumbring and all!   I've actually loved that show for a couple of seasons.  as with all good shows though...wish they had longer time to get into details, and less time doing bumper recaps (before and after commercials).
