To me its really kind of SAD.     :(  [/b]
I have to agree, and it's not just about where meat comes from, but a whole lot of other things that we just can't go into.

Without being there I would surmise the young man was giving you a ribbing.  Just remind yourself that it wasn't that long ago he was shooting a plastic bow with suction cup arrows.

Nineworlds' statements are spot on.  I would also bet that if he shot an arrow or two out of your Bear TD he'd be wondering why he needed cams.  He may not admit it at that moment though.

As for meat, I like meat.

I like to remind those fellas that bows in my youth had no cams and people put meat in the freezer with 45lb bows. Funny how complicated technology takes away the fun of simply shooting an arrow.

We had a couple of guys stop when we were shooting last year. One of them had been hunting with a cam thing  for three years, had found one of the deer he hit. So he knew everything there was to know. He was getting his buddy into bow hunting and claimed that he had a dozen tree stands out on a public parcel, so they were garrannteed a place to hunt in the fall.  He bought three of them from someone who left them out there, so they were all ready installed and ready to go. It was June, so all of his tree stands were illegal.
We had longbows and recurves out.  He explained that the more curve the bow had, the more let off it had.  I said that I did not know that.  He made fun of me for being dumb and said that it was probably only 25%.  When I would not let them touch my bows, they left then I made a call to the game warden.
I hate that road that borders my back yard, I need to move.

All to often new people are getting archery tags that have no respect for the rules or do not bother to learn them.  Some of them change to become proper hunters and some of them have no intentions to ever do things right.  The naive but good hearted folks can learn very fast and some of them have become trad archers that I know.  Still, for those that jump at every opportunity to hoard land, take every cheat and are full of BS, it is better that they never claim to be friends of mine.

I didn't expound upon my encounter but to clear a few things up...he wasn't kidding because one of his group said, "Don't be stupid, that's a longbow!"  Since they were using range finders to shoot they let us shoot through.  The target was a 3D Javelina and both of our arrows broke out the other side.  They couldn't believe it.  One of them wanted to look at our equipment and when my son handed him his  1ooo grain hickory arrow he about flipped.  Later we heard them telling some buddies about these trad guys shooting arrows that weighed about a pound each!  It was a good experience over all but I still say, "Really?"

That is no worse than what happens on other trad sites.  Some in our own ranks like to feed on others.  They are worse than those not in the know in my opinion.  Traders to the sport.

Always good to be nice, altho I have told one guy that when he grew up he could have a bow without training wheels.

As for meat, if we weren't supposed to eat animals, God wouldn't have made them out of food.
