Making the old new again. Thanks Magnus
« on: June 21, 2014, 10:42:00 PM »
I have the fortune of living near Matt. From time to time we do a little horse trading. Last year I got him to dye some feathers for me. They came out perfect and so I had to decide what to put them on.

I was shooting mostly carbons at the time and being a lover of vintage equipment, I couldn't get myself to fletch carbons with them. I've seen some really nice Pearson woodies fletched with orange, but didn't have any woodies worthy.

Last summer I found these Microflites and have bandyed them around in my mind for a while. They were white crown dipped and had silver, black and yellow cresting. The fletchings were tattered and when I tried removing them I, of course, screwed up the cap dip. So they layed around here till this morning. I had to use Acetone to remove the cap dip.

The old Micros were discolored where the cap dip had been so I took rattle can flat black and fadded in a cap, ran to Matt's for some solid Orange Trad nocks and VOILA'!!

Here are a few more.

The fletch cut is my own design. I took my shield cut little chopper and re shaped the blade.

I like it a lot.

WOW Kenny!! Those are beautiful!  Orange is my favorite color, and those micro flights are really something.  Great job!  I hope to be present when you put the red overcoat on them this fall!

Nice job Kenny.  Sometimes things are best left till the idea comes to mind.  Love those Swift cut feathers of Matt's!
