Current Robertson Bow Finish?
« on: June 26, 2014, 06:22:00 PM »
Does anyone know what kind of bow finish Robertson's currently use? I put a pretty good ding in my new bolt-Primal and I don't want to be without it to send it to get it touched up; it's and amazing bow. I want to try and touch it up myself. I've tried getting a hold of Dick a couple times without success. Thanks guys.

Call Dick and ask, I believe he went away from Thunderbird a few years back.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Vikki is there as I talked to her this week and believe I saw that or heard Yote is back around...if it breaks the finish into wood I would put some super glue in bottom to seal and protect it until you can get it worked out.

I ordered a Primal Styk a month or so ago...so will see the difference if any between my Vision Falcon.

Good luck...
Keep em sharp,

I just got a purist back refinished - not sure what it is but it looks perfect - beautiful - flat finish and looks durable. This bow was about 20 yrs old and stomped into the mud and dust - Dick brought it back to new condition.

He will might use a two part finish. To refinish a boo boo, sand it smooth with 150 grit, then 200 and 400 then finish over with a Wipe On Poly, or Mini-Wax Polyurethane. You can use whatever you want, but some will yellow with age. It will take five or more hand coats.  Finish will not act as a filler. If the edges are rough, it will show later.
