looking to see a JD Berry with black and white ebony?
« on: July 06, 2014, 02:27:00 PM »
I'm on James list and am trying to decide what wood combo to get. I like bacote, juniper , yew and a few other's but I really like woods with some cool character and the black and white ebony is pretty neat. So if anyone has a picture of one of James bows with it could you show it off? Even if you have a picture of a nice wood combo of one of James bows I would like to see it. Honestly I don't think that I have ever seen a ugly Berry bow.
Thanks for sharing.

Steve,
I have never seen James put out a black and white ebony bow. I've honestly never heard of him mention it as one of his choices. Now he does have some stunning bocote , teak (?) maple, and what he calls high figure maple.

Here is his bocote on left and high figure maple I right

That bacote is sweet looking! How does the yew feel compared to the bacote on the draw or is there no difference between them?

The bocote is not mine, it belongs to dghill . I have had bocote in my limbs before and it felt great to me, but I feel bow design was to play there.

ALL of James laminations are working, none are veneers , and knowing JD Berry bows like I do I would say if it made for a less than stellar bow it would not leave James shop

Thanks Brian the bacote is my 1st choice, I never thought at the time to ask James about the ebony I might just give him a call and ash him.
